Fished the last round of the commercial house today on the canal in bath. Drew peg B-2 in the horseshoe a well renowned Wagler peg for cubblets. I set up a bread line at 5m straight in front and a blood worm joker line to my left at 14.5m in the track as I had no features to fish against with the pole.
Started on the bread 2 roach in the 1st 20 min
Then it died off so I decided to top my bread line up next put in a 2lb plus chub. I sat on this line for two hours (maybe an hour to long) getting the odd roach. In between fishing this I was feeding my wagler line with maggots and castor. After two hours I went on the wag and it was cubblets and roach then a quality bite and the fish was on 30 seconds into playing the fish it came off I reeled one to see the hook had pulled straight. Quick change of hook length and I was back at it picking up the odd fish. One hour left to go and it had started to slow up so I gave the wag line a rest for 20 min after feeding it up very positively with maggots and castor. First cast back on this line the float was moving left to right the bang hooked into a nice fish reeled it in for a bonus 2-3lb bream next cast a 1lb skimmer
Next cast a 8oz cubblet. After this a boat came through and things slowed up just the odd fish hear and there. Finished with 12lb 10oz for 4th overall and in the money. Haven’t had a day like that on the canal for ages.
Great weekend Saturday I was honoured to fish for Bathampton Mosella uk in the division two national although my section was quite tough I managed mid section points but we had some good high point scores which put us 8th overall and promoted back into div one next year. Sunday I fished the commercial house league on the kings sedgemoor drain near bridgewater, got to my peg which was end peg bradney only to find myself next to all round top bloke des shipp, I fished 6 mtr to hand whip, single red maggot over groundbait and hemp for a total of 14lb 10oz of small roach and skimmers plus a bonus 2lb 8oz perch for a section win and 5th overall there were also two other Mosella backed anglers Warren Bates was 2nd and Ben Rendall was fourth just beating myself by 3oz

Quadruple ton for Tony in bagfest at Sessay!

No catch shot from the day as Tony was too busy weighing his catch!
Tony Watson

Mosella backed Tony Watson recorded an incredible personal best 416 lb 3 oz haul in a midweek at The Oaks Fishery, Sessay. The Durham tackle dealer gives us an insight into how he achieved it.

‘It was the Sessay open on Wednesday 27th June. I Drew Sycamore peg 26 which has been a good area of late and definitely felt in with a chance of a winning weight. I set up three pole lines, two edge lines one  left and one right plus a line in front both shallow and on the deck.

I Started the match on the method but it soon became apparent this was going to be too slow as fish were very quickly showing down the edges and shallow .

So after 30-minutes I went down the edge and began catching straight away. After an hour-and-a-half it was obvious a huge weight washing to be possible. The fish were shallow on all the lines and after that the rest of the match became very easy as the peg got stronger when the shade appeared over the left side of the peg. This culminated in a last hour filling two nets for 110 lb. and I finished up winning match with a personal best weight of 416lb 3oz.’

What a list of weights!

Festival wins and big money finals for in form Mosella anglers.

WHAT a start to the summer it has been for Mosella anglers with Steve Ford, Steve Openshaw and Andrew Dargue all qualifying for the Fish‘O’Mania XXV final while Trevor Wyse sealed his place in the Maver Match This Final and Craig Edmunds won the White Acres Frenzee Festival.

Steve Ford with some of his Woodland View winning bag.

After booking a Fish‘O’Mania final slot with 179 lb at Woodland View Steve Ford also topped the Spring Festival at Stafford Moor with a perfect score and 434 lb 13 oz total to continue his excellent form.

Steve Openshaw made his trip to the Partridge Lakes Fish ‘O’ qualifier count winning with 174 lb to make sure he’s in with a shout in the final.

Andrew Dargue did the business at The Oaks Sessay Fish’O’Mania qualifier to join the two Steve’s for a crack at the £50,000 winner’s cheque in the grand final at Hayfield Lakes in Doncaster on Saturday, July 14 2018.

Bristolian Craig ‘Trigger’ Edmunds has been bagging through Spring and early Summer and aside form winning several opens with weights up to 312 lb he carded a perfect score at White Acres to win the Frenzee Spring Festival topping a field of 179 in the five day event.

Trig then followed that up with second in the Guru Festival at the Viaduct where he is also dominating the Spring league.

Swindon based Trevor Wyse led the field in the Maver Match This qualifier at Barston lakes with 121 lb to earn a crack at another big money final.

Well done to all these lads and good luck to the guys in the finals.

Vic & Shawn visit Shearwater for Angler’s Mail feature.

MOSELLA UK boss Vic Bush and Shawn Kittridge visited the impressive Shearwater Lake in Wiltshire to team up with Angler’s Mail Magazine’s SouthWest correspondent Brian Gay for a forthcoming feature.

Vic & Brian have a long affinity with the venue stretching back over  30 years but for Shawn it was his first visit although probably not his last!

Famed for its excellent bream and silvers sport the venue did not disappoint. The full feature will be available in the Anglers Mail Magazine soon.
